Statement of Faith

The Bible
We believe the Bible is the complete, inspired, authoritative and infallible word of God provided for our lifelong instruction and edification. We believe that the Word of God is defined and interpreted by scripture itself. (Romans 15:4, Hebrews 4:12, 2 Timothy 3:16)

GOD
We believe God is Love, as love is defined in scripture (1 Corinthians 13:4-8). He loves each one of us, knows us by name, and has plans for our good (1 Peter 5:7, Jeremiah 29:11, Luke 12:7, John 3:16-17). God is self-existent, and by nature, He is eternal, all-knowing, all-powerful, and everywhere (John 1:1). God the Father adopts believers in Jesus Christ into a relationship with Him as their Father. We believe He created the heavens and the earth as described in the book of Genesis. (1 Peter 5:7, Jeremiah 29:11, Luke 12:7)

The Trinity
We believe that while there is only one God (Matthew 28:19), he dwells distinctly and eternally in three separate persons: the Father, the Son, the Holy Spirit, co-equal in deity, authority and glory.

God the Son: Jesus
We believe Jesus is the Word of God made flesh, through whom all things were created. He is the Christ (Messiah), the Son of God and the Son of Man and is exalted to the highest place, seated at the right hand of the Father (John 1:1). Jesus took on human flesh in the fullness of time so that He could live a sinless human life and offer Himself as the perfect sacrifice for the sins of all people by dying on the cross. He was raised from the dead, after three days, victorious over the power of sin and death. He will come again to judge the living and the dead and to make all things new.

Humankind
We believe mankind was separated from God by our sins at the fall. God sent his son Jesus to redeem our relationship back to Him with the free gift of salvation. We believe as children of God we are fearfully and wonderfully made, with a unique purpose in God’s mind for each of us, to give us a future and a hope. We believe that children are God’s workmanship and are created to live in community with Him and others, exercising their gifts to do good works that Christ foreknew, for God’s purpose of building up the community as a whole (Isaiah 59:2, Romans 3:23, Isaiah 53:6, John 3:16, Romans 5:8, Romans 6:23).

Right Living
We believe as children of God we are called to live holy and upright lives before God and others by obeying the Word of God and walking in alignment with the Holy Spirit. We believe that Right Living affects the individual’s physical, mental and spiritual health, and the health of the family. We believe all sexual activity is reserved exclusively for marriage between one man and one woman, for mutual edification and stable family structure for both the parents and children. We believe men and women are absolutely equal in essence, dignity and value but are distinct by divine design. We believe God created two distinct, yet complementary genders (sexes) for our good, His glory, and to reflect His nature and character to the world (Genesis 1:27, 2 Thessalonians 2:13, Philippians 1:6, Philippians 2:12, John 14:26, John 3:36, 1John 5:2).

Victorious Living
We believe we are called to be in the world but not of the world, demonstrating Jesus’ love to all we meet by living out the fruits of the Spirit, as joyful, integrous and unified servant leaders. Because we believe biblical authority and leadership of children begins in the home, WayMaker Christian Academy will model and exemplify the exercise of godly authority through submission to the Lord and also to others (Matt 5:16; Phil. 2:14-16; 1 Thess. 5:22 John 17:11-23).
